Agreement Between PIEDRA 2010 and EUROROC
PIEDRA 2010 and EUROROC, the European and International Federation of Natural Stone Industries, have signed a collaboration agreement in order to boost the promotion of the fair at an international level. EUROROC, which will take part at the fair with its own stand, has based this initiative on the important strategic role that PIEDRA plays due to its location, as well as on the leading status that Spain enjoys as one of the world´s main producers of natural stone.
EUROROC was founded back in 1950 by a series of federations located in different European countries, with a view to jointly coordinating and protecting the industry´s interests. PIEDRA 2010 hosts the staging of a series of meetings by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN/TC 246“ Piedra Natural”)
On 5th, 6th and 7th May, coinciding with the staging of the fair, PIEDRA, FERIA DE MADRID will host the staging of a series of meetings by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN/TC 246“ Piedra Natural”).
As is well known, the most important progress regarding standardisation under the heading of natural stone products is being carried out by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), a body based in Brussels, whose members include the countries of the EU and the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Specifically, the CEN/TC 246 Technical Committee, which is headed by Italy and which includes the participation of various Spanish experts, has already sent various Draft Standards to CEN so that they can be made public among the member countries.
This meeting is of considerable importance to Spanish industry, given that this is the first time that a Plenary Session of the Committee for Standardisation has taken place in Madrid, normally taking place as it does in the Italian city of Carrara.
