The Condition of Russian Stone Market
According to the market investigation of PBK: the construction of real estate and high grade housing is the major factor that directly influences the Russian stone market. However the detaining development of the two areas to a great extent affects the natural stone decorating material market. The reduction in the A-grade and B-grade office building is due to the change of constructing period and long time of various document processing.
In 2006, there are 900,000m2 office-building land put into use, with an increase of 9% compared with 2005, but is 9% lower than expected. The other important consuming field ---high grade housing fails to make the situation turn for better.
According to the statistics from Miar, the area of high-grade housing in 2006 is 62% less than in 2005, only 114400 m2. Investigation by the marketing consultant company shows that the prospect of natural stone market is not promising. According to the statistics from Russian National Custom Committee, the imported stone products mainly supplies for Moscow city and Moscow state, which accounts for 47% of the total amount. Although these areas are the biggest receptor of stone, the consumption of imported stone is still cut down compared to 2005, the consumption speed of 2006 lowered by 1.5%. The lowered consumption speed of imports might be resulted by the substituted national products; however, the real estate market just proves the opposite.
