Yevlakh Seed Wins World Architecture Award
At the just concluded 2010 World Architecture Festival in Barcelona, the award for the best building in the Production, Energy and Recycling category went to the Yevlakh Seed Industry Campus in Azerbaijan. Designed by the Turkish architecture firm, TOCA, Yevlakh’s production facility is equipped with latest technologies and is designed as several units of a plant operating as one machine in order to streamline the production of seeds. The integrated campus is made up of four areas and is brightly colored with underlying symbolic meanings and also features skylights and natural ventilation to maintain optimum temperature at the facility and reduce the consumption of energy.
The Yevlakh Campus is the first seed manufacturing unit in Azerbaijan and is projected to produce around 250,000 tons of hybrid seeds annually.
